August 22, 2009: "District 9". 4:45pm, Columbus IN Cinema 12, $6.50 (I'm a day late posting this one) This movie was about a government bean counter that accidentally gets sprayed with some alien juice and slowly & painfully turns into a giant space cricket. If Cronenberg was at the helm this would have been the greatest movie ever made. #historicalticketstubs

August 20, 1995: "Dangerous Minds". 5:25pm, College Mall Cinema Bloomington IN, $4.25 I'm pretty sure this was the weekend I helped @leetha_t move into her apartment on Henderson. This movie inspired the Coolio song that MTV played about every 20 minutes, which inspired a Weird Al parody which in turn inspired Coolio to start some stuff with Weird Al. Come on guy. What kind of ding dong starts a beef with Weird Al. #historicalticketstubs

August 17, 1996: Graceland Tour. 2:00pm. We showed up in town late Friday night and there was a line of people walking past Graceland with lit candles, we were like "whoa they do this every night? These people are NVTS". Turns out it was the anniversary of his death so there was a candlelight vigil (lol). Graceland was pretty cool. A woman in line behind us totally lost it when we went past his grave; she was sobbing and she goes "WAHHH I DID SO GOOD UNTIL NOW". @leetha_t snapped a picture of her mid-sob, it's pretty great. #historicalticketstubs

August 15, 1992: "Stay Tuned". 9:30pm, Commons Cinema Columbus IN, $4.50 I don't remember ANYTHING about this movie, but according to Wikipedia it starred John Ritter and Pam Dawber and evidently I was REALLY itching to see this masterpiece because we saw it the day after the premier. #historicalticketstubs

August 14, 1999: The Blair Witch Project. 5:00pm, Cinema 5 Columbus IN, $4.50 #historicalticketstubs Sitting directly in front of us were a couple of typical Midwestern hunting guys. Carhartt overalls, camouflage hat etc. As the credits were rolling, Guy #1 softly said to his buddy "Aw hell I guess we're not going squirrel hunting tomorrow morning". 👻👻

Over the last 25 years @leetha_t & I have seen a lot of movies together, and we've saved most of our ticket stubs. Last weekend we sorted through them and for the next 365 days I'm going to post the ticket stubs on the anniversary of the date we saw the movie. Hoo boy did we see a lot of clunkers. But we saw them together! 💑🎥 #historicalticketstubs

Tiny Furniture, Tiny Hands, Big Dreams
Dear Hazelita,
In Bahboo and Grandma P cleaning out their attics, corners and spaces Mama's old dollhouse furniture is coming out of storage and into your hot little hands. You have loved going through the boxes and yesterday we laid them all out; putting the bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms and beds together. I got my first big girl dollhouse for Christmas in 1977.
I WAS REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS. I played with this more than toys ever. I have the coolest, well now you have (I GUESS) the coolest, modern and durable dollhouse furniture ever. Grandma P has found duplicate kitchens and such over the years at garage sales so we worked on putting together sets. I was still a bit possessive of it all, I'll be honest...I got nervous if you knocked it over or a little grabby if you didn't put the pieces together, which go together, duh. But, the more we played the more I regressed, the more I could let go and the more I could see how all the happy hours I played with it were oozing out and flowing into you...I couldn't ignore the joy.
You were happy to tell me who was napping, who needed to eat and who needed a shower. I am hopeful that you, too will have dreams where you have a house with the furniture and wonder why the sinks don't work, or the TV won't turn on or that your friends are those plastic people.
I slowly turned it over to you, but don't expect that Mommy won't remind you to not stomp on it, throw it, take it apart or chew on it.
I just can't help myself, they did last 35 years in perfect shape. Now, to get the houses ready and to find more of a variety of people!
Love, Mama.

1st of 1st
Hey there 1st grader,
Today was your first day of 1st grade! The week before you were all over the place in your behavior; talking back, laughing, challenging, testing, having fun, working so hard at swim lessons, resistant, loving and SO EXCITED to start school again. No chalkboard markers for the start of the year for you. You had to create your own sign. We picked out the pieces and placed them together.
I didn't even ask you to get it this morning as you readied yourself in the speedy way a race car reaches its finish line. We got your pictures and you wanted to include Hazel, who was less than excited to be up a bit earlier than in the past 8 weeks.
We loaded up all of your supplies and pulled up with time to spare. We all unloaded the car and entered a very excited classroom of kids and teachers entering the 1/2 classroom.
Greeted by Ms. Alana, experiencing growing pains of her own as she leaves her newborn son to return to work...and I am so grateful she is and is teamed up by Ms. Em who will be a team full of care, concern and enthusiasm with no tricks getting past them you sure to have a sensational year.
You played with a crew of old buds making dinosaurs attack pigs and then tossing them aside, and you had no concerns allowing little sis sit in and have a go at it took. As we were leaving at the last chime moms and dads were standing to the side waiting to detach and leave our babies to start their newest acquisitions of knowledge, friends and experiences.
Mommy Brook, Lily's mama, left and we caught eyes...and forever we know our stories of becoming families and forever we share the honor of being the mamas and papas to be able to see you off through your firsts, our eye catch pulled out some tears of gratitude and honor to be there in this moment. You and Lily are next to each other in your circle spots.
It seems like yesterday we were bringing you home. We know you are going to have a wonderful year. I can't wait to see you when you get home!
Love, Mama
