Dear Henry, Finally Daddy was able to come and visit J with you and Mommy. We were all really happy to see each other. We hung out a bit on J's back porch, watched Uriah push around on his little car and chit chatted a bit. J held and snuggled you marveling at your ever expanding size and sweet smile. She loves playing boo! with you and you give in with lots of shocked eyes and giggles.
It was SO hot out so we decided to get some ice cream! You had a little taste and seemed very happy with that. J and Mommy had a very hard time deciding what to get and some how Mommy managed to order two sundaes! It was a nice day and we had J's boyfriend's sister take a photo of all of us. Mommy has wanted a photo with J for quite some time and now I finally have it!We all love you SO much, Mommy
Dear Henry, I don't think I've mentioned this yet but October 8th you'll be having a little surgery to repair eh, eh, a somewhat poor circumcision eh, eh and a little common problem you had at birth so you'll but ready to function in that area when you're ready to function... It isn't a big deal but last week
we went to your pre-surgery appointment to talk about what was gonna be. It made Mommy and Daddy very nervous and anxious to think about your little baby body being put under and going into surgery on a gurney, while you blissfully wrestled the bit of paper the nurse lays on the exam table like a crazy wolf boy. We feel really confident in the doctor so we know all will be good. Dr. gave you a weigh in and in the last two months you've gained 2lbs making you a whoppin' 16lbs 10oz. You do seem to love being put into that scale basket.
Just days later you had your regular check up and shots. You received a flu shot and seemed to handle it okay. In the couple of days you had put on 5 ounces, putting you in at 16lbs 15oz, in the 50% and your height was 26.5", 75%! You're making gains. You did show off a bit for each doctor by pushing your butt into the air and crawling across the table. There is no doubt that you're a strong one for just 6 months. I'm so grateful that you're healthy and doing well! Mommy is trying her hardest.
Dear Henry, It was time for another visit to Grandma LaJean at work. It had been SIX MONTHS.
I think at your first visit you were just 3 weeks old. You were equally calm and wonderful this time around. You gave LOTS of smiles as Grandma LaJean took you from desk to desk and you didn't mind getting a snuggle or two along the way.
Grandma LaJean was having kind of a poopie day so our surprise visit lifted her spirits! You sat at her desk for a few minutes and then we were off to have lunch with Crappaw.
If you remember back to when you were just three weeks old Mommy took you to the library to get your very first library card. You have made great use of it since checking out many books and CD's. The last visit I took you into the activity room for the first time, we rented a DVD, and borrowed your first texture book.
While in the playroom Mommy received a call from your Auntie Kristin' who was off work and looking to play. She met us in the DVD's where we picked out The Electric Company...Puuuh..eeeer...Perfect!
We asked one of the desk experts for some books with loose adoption themes and slipped into the playroom while she looked. Auntie Kristin, loving you as much as she does, had already one in mind that she found in her search, "And Tango Makes Three," by Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson. Henry, you will grow to know this book well as you grow up because it is such as sweet true story. It is about two male penguins that live in the Central Park Zoo who for a long time and don't find a mate. Penguins mate for life and one day the two penguins find each other and do everything together. It is hard for the two penguins because they really want a family, so much so when the other penguins work on laying and protecting their eggs until they hatch these two build a nest and sit on a rock. There is another penguin couple that laid two eggs but had rarely been able to take care of more than one at a time...so the penguin keeper puts the other egg with the couple wishing to be penguin parents. They care for their egg and then their baby until it goes off into the world. Sigh... WHAT A TEAR JERKER! In the playroom you played with little wooden dolls and got up on your hands and knees freaking out your Aunt Kristin. (This was about a week before you were crawling.) You sat in the kid chair and played with a little jack in the box. A little girl was trying REALLY hard to play with you but her mom kept reeling her back in reminding her that she had just gotten over a fever. YIKES! I am sure happy that you didn't get sick!We said goodbye to Auntie K and drove back home where we started reading your books right away. You loved the Trucks Usborne Touchy Feely and scratched your little fingers across, bumps, ridges and rough spots.

We we able to visit with your Great Aunt Cathy and Great Uncle Jim before they returned to Florida. She loved holding you and from the look of it you did too!
A few weeks ago when Mommy's college buddy and roommate sent her a message to let her know that she was coming to town all the way from New York and they would be going to the Indianapolis Zoo Mommy was super excited. I immediately ask Papa if he could take off work for a couple of hours to join us and he did! It is funny because this is something we put into our birth mother letter when waiting to find you and here we were doing just that, taking a day to go to the zoo with our child...you! So we met Tiffanie, Ian, Desmond and Amelia (born just threedays after you!) at the Indianapolis Zoo. Amelia was probably double your size! She has got lots of luscious rolls and curves. The two of you got acquainted over lunch. You kept trying to lurch at her, a little aggressive Henry. Mama knows it is only because you get so excited when you see other little people around. You really enjoyed the penguins swimming under the water. You tried to keep your eye on them but the penguins swam SO quickly!
Uh, hello? You didn't even notice the elephant in the room! We watched it get a bath but I'm not sure how much of it you took in.
A nice lady by the lions was letting kids pet a real lion hair hide! You seemed to like this new texture and tried to pull it off the table to take it with you!
In the dolphin tank you missed the big dolphins swimming around but were totally fascinated by the prismed light dancing on your hands and Papa's arms.
The walruses were very active today and kept surprising you by peekin' their heads up close to the glass. Sadly, by the time we made it to the walrus' you were more or less done!
It was fun taking you to your first zoo visit and meeting up with old friends. Mama and Papa can't wait to take you to the St. Louis Zoo one day. Mommy is also grateful that Papa was able to join us, it would not be the same without him too!
A few weekends ago while you were laying out on Grandma P and Crappaw's deck Crappaw picked you some sunflowers from his garden. You LOVED the sunflowers. You smelled them, waved them in the air, picked them a part, rolled in them, and you even tried to eat them. The flowers made for some fun photo opportunities, as did the popsicle Crappaw gave you out of sympathy for your sore teething mouth. It drove you nuts that it wasn't open for you get the sweet sugary mess inside.
Mommy gave you some tastes later. You ended the afternoon taking your first nap on Crappaw's mountain chest.
